Damon Conner Cochran was born on Nov 16, 2006 in St. Louis, MO. He has a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Damon has undergone 2 of the 3 surgeries he will need to repair his heart, the first on Nov 20th, 2006 and the second on April 13th, 2007. This site was created to keep our family and friends updated on Damon's condition. We also want to glorify God for all he has done for Damon so far and will continue to do. We wish you a Merry Christmas

and a Happy New Year! We hope you all had a safe and Merry Christmas! We did, although Damon woke up about 3am on Christmas Eve throwing up. He couldn't keep anything down for pretty much that whole day. He was very cranky and clingy to Jeremy and I but he is feeling better now. We were worried for a while that he would get dehydrated because he wouldn't dring anything but everything is ok now. The boys had a great time Christmas morning opening their presents from Santa and mom and dad. We left Santa a special key so he could get in since we don't have a fireplace and we left him cookies and milk and some carrots for the reindeer and he checked first thing in the morning to see if they were gone.

We are so blessed. Damon is doing so well, we have lots of family and friends who care so much about us, we have a place to call home, and our bills are paid, but most of all because we have a God who loves us so much that He sent us a Savior when we desperately needed one. We celebrate Christmas because it's the time Jesus was born. But I can't celebrate his birth without rejoicing over His death. You see if the story ended there, it wouldn't be much to celebrate. But it doesn't end there! Jesus was born to die. Jesus came to earth as a baby to grow up into a man who died for my sins so that I could be reconciled to God. And what gets me even more now in my life is that He died for my sons too. I can't get over it, can't ignore it, can't stop being thankful for it.

It is always fun to receive gifts from people, and I think even more fun to give gifts to see their reactions. But Christmas isn't about that. It's about the greatest gift anyone could ever receive, Jesus Christ and the salvation He brings. My favorite part about it is that it's a gift we can receive every day. We love you all and wish you a safe and Happy New Year! Talk to you soon.

Weight gain

Damon got his first round of RSV vacines yesterday. The nurse had to weight him before the shot to see how much medicine to give him. He weighed 17lbs 8oz which is down 6 oz from when we were at Dr Tong's on the 6th. Every scale will give a different weight so this one might have been off but I'm concerned that his eating habits are not good enough for him to gain as much as he needs too. Please pray for his appetite to increase and for him to want to eat more table foods. I don't know what we would have to do if he lost weight and I don't want it to come to that.

Our Christmas concert was great. We're glad to have our Sunday's back too! Myles' church Christmas program is tomorrow night. There is so much exciting stuff going on right now. We are all so excited for Christmas and I can't believe that it's almost here. We are so fortunate to have a God that loves us so much that He sent our Savior to us when we needed Him most. Mankind was desperate for hope and Jesus came and gave it to us.

Please also pray for my dad. He had surgery a couple of weeks ago and this Thursday he went into the emergency room with a fever and found out that he has a really serious infection. They opened him back up to clean up the area and he is on antibiotics. There was a chance that they might have to open him up again if the drugs didn't work fast enough but I think that possibility has passed. He's going to have to be on i.v. antibiotics for 6-8 weeks after he leaves the hospital. He won't be able to work for a while so that is causing him some worry. His name is Dan. Talk to you later.

Darkness

We thankfully are not in darkness but many others in our area are. Join us in praying for the quick return of everyone's electricity and the safety of those getting it going again.

Damon is doing well. He's frustrating us with eating, meaning he's not eating very much sometimes. His favorite food group is bread and I struggle everyday to get him to eat a good amount of veggies, fruit, and meat. Please pray for him about this. His weight gain, while fine, wasn't very much and I just don't want him to loose any weight because he doesn't eat very much. For a normal child who eats like a mouse (Myles), it doesn't take much for them to maintain the weight they need to but Damon's body burns up more calories than normal because his heart is still working more than normal. So just pray that his appetite will increase.

Our Christmas music program at church is this Friday and Saturday night at 7pm. It's located at our church, Southside Apostolic Faith Trinity on South Main St. We would love to see all of you there, it will be a great time. Talk to you soon.

P.S. Do I know that I'm using this website for shameless plugs? Yes. Do I care? No. Hehe!

Iced In

Hope all of you that were affected by the major ice storm are safe and have power. Our power has been off and on every since early Sunday morning. The only damage we have is a lot of trees down and a powerline was down in our yard this morning. Hopefully the worst is over. When I walked outside this morning, it sounded like rice krispies. SNAP, KRACKLE, POP. There were tree branches falling all around the neighborhood. I guess this is just a brutal sign that winter is officially here.
We did get a good report when Damon went to the doctor last week. Dr. Tong said that Damon was doing great and that he didn't need to see him until early in February. He is definetly a great gift to have this Christmas. He and Myles are such a cute pair. Keep praying for him that he won't get sick during the cold and flu season coming up.

Talk to you soon,
Jeremy & family

Fundraiser

This Thursday, Friday, & Saturday is the annual Radio-a-thon for Children's Miracle Network. They call it Miracles on 32nd Street (because the radio station it's broadcast from is on 32nd St.) All the money raised from this fundraiser will stay local, meaning it goes to help 4-state families (aka yours truely). I don't know the number to call to make a donation but if you tune in to KIX 102.5 I'm sure it will be on there. If you need a last minute charitable gift to give for tax deductions, or if you just want to donate to help some miracle children and their families give them a call. I'll be answering the phones on Friday from 9-11am so if you call then, maybe we'll get to talk. Talk to you soon.

Hello

Sorry we haven't updated in a couple of weeks, we've been busy like everybody else. Everybody is doing well around here. Damon had his first normal little boy accident. He fell out of a chair while he was trying to reach the phone. He scrapped up his head but other than that he was fine. I've been dreading that because I didn't know how he would react to it. I thought he might cry so hard that he would start having trouble breathing or something, but he only cried for about 30 seconds then he wanted back down to play. His heart sure was beating fast though. He has a cardio appt on Thursday so I'll update after that.

We have been practicing at our church for a Christmas Cantata call All Bow Down. It's a musical performance and it's going to be really good. The dates of it are Dec 14th and 15th both nights at 7pm. It will be held at our church, Southside Apostolic Faith. It's free of charge so I hope you will come.

This time of year is my favorite for so many reasons, but it also brings on so much stress, mostly from low finances. I'm asking for your prayers about this and I'm offering my prayers to you for the same reason. God will see us all through, but sometimes it seams impossible to us how He is going to do it. God bless you all! Talk to you soon.
